In what what way does your media product use, develop or challenging forms and conventions of real media product?


when i look at similar genre music videos the most predominant themes that was recurring in all the videos i looked at was they all had quick transition and the videos had many different locations that was filmed in the music video example in cold play video fix you, it started with the vocal on the street under a tunnel then he was on the high way running then i got into concert and started playing on the stage with his band and the other music video call plain whitees hey there dehlila. The main singer is sat in a little room playing his guitar but as he is singing there is a video of a girl in different location example, the girl is walking on the road then another transaction of her on in the train then another transition of her at home, i think all these methods of different location is very good but in my video i challenged that by keeping the vocal singer in one place, i done this because i didn't want my video to just be another one of the same pop song videos i wanted to do something different and see hot the audience react to it.


My video follows forms and convention because when i done my primary research on my video i looked at different music videos that has the same music genre as mine, some of the conventions i took from the music videos is how the main singer acts and sing example the way they move and their facial expression to be able to relate to the song and because my music video is about love i made sure the main singer facial expression was relevant so that i can draw listener to the video, i also used similar camera shot in order to established some scenes, at the beginning you see seagulls on a pull and i made sure they were couples so that it can signify love and because the starting instrumentals was slow so wanted to film something that can be related to the instrumental, i also took some mis en scene from my music videos example on the "Plain whitees video called hey there dehlilah" the bit it shows the streets the girl was walking on, i also have that in my video but it will be hard to spot that because snow covers road and also there is know girl walking is just the road.

How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary?


My music video links explicitly well with my digipack and my magazine advert, this is because the photo or the images in all three product i the same but the image on my magazine and on my c.d cover has different effects because on the my cd cover i thought if i use an original photo of my artist it will make the cd cover a little bit boring, i got this idea from looking at different cd covers and how they have portrait the artist on the cover and also because i listen to music and buy music albums i knew how most artist have used different effects on their picture to established certain thing example attractiveness. On my magazine advert used the original picture because i wanted the audience to see his real face without effects this was mainly because my artist is very unknown and i want the people who buys the album to recognize him.


My artist features in all three tests to show continuity and this enforces recognition for the audience. i find this very significant because as ultimately all three test are promotional tool and also my artist is relatively unknown therefore repetition of image if him reminds the audience of him.


What have you learned from your feedback?

I have learnt alot from my my audience and also the audience i showed my film to. one audience said, the acting in my video was really good but i should have had a a split scene of a girl acting out somethings as well as this will allow the audience to be more engage with the video, the reason why i didnt have girl in my video is because i wanted to challenge the covention of love music video showing the girl, i wanted to do something different, i wanted the audience to create the girl with their own imagination, another audiece said the snow made my vidoe more attractive, which i thought was very true because it made everything clean in the video, i was applaud by the lipsinking of video because i is very hard to get it right as it takes alot of timing and also hard whiles editing so i was really proud when one of the audience was able to recognise it a highlight it during the feedback.

overall i would change some things in my video after getting feebcak from my audience but no too much i will changed things like i will add more cuts to my video and also the speed of the video, but because the song is a slow song i wanted the pace to be slow so it can be relevant to lyrics and also the emotion the artist is going through. but would have made it a little bit faster to satify the audience because at the end of the day the product is for them.


How did you use new media technologies in the contracting and research, planing and evaluating stages?


in used many different technologies in order to accomplish all three tests of my product, i had issues with uploading my video to blogger.com, this was because i don't know what type of file format the file had to be in this really slowed down my working pace because i spent days trying to work it out, I feel i could have made my main video better by using finale cut pro "software" but because i haven't had any training on it i found it hard to understand how to cut out scenes, add effects and plenty more of other things, but instead i used i movie "software" which had limited amount of effect you can add to videos, but overall i think i movie was good because even thore i couldn't establish the effects i wanted to used, i movie had some effects that was relatively close to the effects i wanted to add to my videos, the use of the camera went really well for my when i was filming my video because i had the correct tripod to keep the video steady and because i had already used the camera in AS media i was really easy to operate it, i used micro-media fireworks which is a desktop publishing software to modify my images of my artist for the cd cover.


I was able to create a very cartoonic image of my artist with that software because i have been using the software to create other thing for 2 years now so i knew how to use it like a professional, i also used the same software to create my cd cover because i knew how to manipulate text and images used that software so i was able to create a really good album cover, i also used the same software to create my magazine advert because i was most good with using micormedia fireworks. I used the internet to get my secondary research for all the 3 text because using the internet made it quicker to gain information and also ideas of how i will create my products, planning was first drafted on a piece of paper then i done a finale copy of my planning on on blogger.com.

overall i think i have done really well because i have come far from As media which i had little experice with all the technologies used, but in A2 was able to excute most of the effects i wanted because i was more familiar with almost all the technologies used in A2 product and i also enjoyed every stage of the product expecially the filming and editing bit

Magazine adverts (secondary research)

This magazine hasn't got bright colours but is very attractive, it looks kind of nerdy image with a white background the the image of the artist make the advert very attractive. the font colour of the writing is very consistent but in different font size example the top writing at the top of the advert that say stop complaining is blue with a darker blue outline, the font size is very big this is because it the title c.d. album, so highlighting the statement in a large size make it stand out so readers can recognise it when they purchase it in the shop, the camera angle of the image is a high angle shot which very good because it make you feel the artist is looking at you at also has 4 stars showing on the advert which makes you think the album must be very good so is encourages more to by the album  

This magazine advert is very attractive because it has many different pristine colour that help the image to have many different bright colour, it has many different types of font styles and colours, i think this is done to make each writing stand out from other writing on the advert, the releasing date of the cd co is in a white writing with a black background below the magazine advert, the main reason the font colour is white in a black background is because it easier to read and because the release date is the most important information on the magazine advert is only right the contrast the colour with the bright colours at the top so is easy catch readers attention, the positioning of the picture of the artist is very well placed because it allows more information to be placed on the left hand side if the advert, the idea of the green grass is very smart because you can tell the sun is making the grass shine which make the whole advert cover image sort of glow.

The beatles went for a very unique approach to an album cover because not only they have a cartoon image of their self but they also have normal picture. I really like the face that the cartoon picture is really zoomed in acting as the main image of all the pictures onb the album cover. also the main picture characters are all looking in a different direction example the front picture is looking strainght and the one on the left is looking up, so you can tell everyone is doing their own thing.



I looked at the verve album cover and I find it attractive because is a picture a the cloud with the sun reflecting light on is to make it shine. The different forms of of cloud images makes the image very realistic and the different colour contrast bettwen the sky and the bottom of the cloud is very interesting becuase as you go down from top of the picture to the bottom the colour mood slowly changing, which gives me an idea of what I want to do with my cover.

The first album cover i looked at was busted(band) album cover, i liked the scractchy images with the lines scratches that goes across the picture. the picture also look a little bit old fashion which i kind of liked that style. there is a medium close up of all there face of the cover. while their name is printed in red on the bottom right of the cover which I think stands out very well because the writing is bold and font colour is red. The background is relevant to the picture colour contrast because is the back of a brick wall which is not painted to give to scratchy look.

Reason why i picked location

I picked these location because i wanted the singer to be in an isolated place, because that what he feels within him so i wanted to bring it out of him to show the audience how he is feeling within, and by looking at the grass and the laction which look empty i thought this will be the perfect surroundings for him to be to portraite how he feels inside. And also because the song is about love that he can't get i thought it will be relevant to have this location to make the song lyrics relevant to the location.

Props

The props i will need to complete my music video are: white garment, a stage with a microphone, a video camera. i will also need different colour lightening, cars. i will need all these props in order for my video to be a success

Cold play fix you


I made a secondary research on a band called cold play on one of their music videos. I am going to talk about the different effects they use to make the video a success. First the video started on the street as the main singer is walking and singing at the same time at this moment the mood is calm and the singer is singing very slow and the camera transaction gets faster, then we see the street lights overshadowing the dark atmosphere, the colour of the lightning was red which o thought was really well presented because the song lyrics is about love and the colour red signifies love. Then there is a medium close up shot of the singers face this shows the audience the emotions he going through buy looking at his face. whiles the song gets faster the vocal singer starts running which really relates to the pace of the song as all the instuments mixes in his vocal voice, as he is running he walks throug a door then on the stage, then we see a close up of his face on the stage and also a long shot of him on the stage. I think the long shot was done to show the audience his surroundings. the colour on the sage was red the same colour that was seen whiles the main singer was on the street, which i think tell the audience the emotions that he was going through hasn't changed. As the song is ending all the instruments fades out and its just left with the vocla singer, which i taught was very good because it become emotional when the lead singer was only singing without intrument at the background.

By watching this music videos there are couple things i would do similar in my music video i will take the main singers facial expression and the way he acts in the video because the song is about love and the way shows compassion in the video is he remains calm and also the starting instrumental goes well with the way he is acting i will use the same calmness as my music video is about love as well.

Plain white ts

The music video starts off with a split scene of the main vocal singer and a girl. As the split scene is still going on there is a close up of the main singers face and the girls face, then there is a long shot of both of them to show their surroundings, the main singer is in an empty room sitting on a chair playing the guiter and the girl is on the street. the split screen stop and only the girl appear on the screen going up the stairs then there is a quick transaction to the main singer playing his quiter with a close angle shot of his face to show the emotiona he is going through. then the split screen starts again. I really like the idea of ther split screen because the lyrics is like a story and the girl is acting it out whiles he is singing. The street lightning is very relevant because the song is about love and red street light represents love. There is another close up of the main singer face while he is singing the high notes, this is a good camera angle because from the emotion he is going through because it draws the listeners or the audience in the song which makes the audience feel emotional to.

i will use the shot of the road (mis en scene) on my video but it ill be difficult to spot it because of the snow and also i will be using one location for main singer to be at all the way through the video, i think this really good because it allow the audience to focus on the singer well as the camera is at the same place on thing i will not use from this video is the scenes of the in different location because i didn't want it to look like a duplication of plain whites video.

Conventions Observed

From looking at the two music video they both have some similar convention example by listening to both of them the two music video is about love and they both have the same way of showing this through a said facial expression, they both also use bright colours the make the video look attractive. the two music video also carry out some series of the same camera angle shots example, there is a very close up shot of the vocal singer face whiles they are singing, there is also a low angle shot of the girl at the train station and there is a low angle shot of the main singer when he was on stage singing, and also at the start of both video they both started the song with a slow beat

Questionnaire Analysis

I asked people aged fifteen to seventeen what kind of music they are interested in. Most people said they like hip-hop,jazz and RnB but when i asked people aged twenty and above the responded with classical, rock, jazz so from there i found out people from fifteen to twenty tend to like more mordent style of music like hip-hop and RnB and the the older people like twenty-five and above tend to like the olden day music such as classical, rock and jazz.

I asked people what location will most attract them to a music video, I asked person A  and he replied with a with i would like the location to be a beach. I then asked person B and the responded with an urban centre. I then went on and asked Person C and he said Iceland or a dessert, I then asked person D and he said a dance stage. person E recommended me to make my location some sort of a fantasy world. Person E said the location that will most be attractive to him in a music video is some where in Bristol. from all these location i received it was really hard for me to pick the correct location that will interest my target audience from a long thinking i decided to make my location on the road side and also a performance stage.

From reading how much people spend on music cd i found out that most people spent between £10-20 and surprisingly the people that spend the most money are age twenty and above i think this is because they have a job so thier spending power is more than teenagers the younger generation which is fifteen to twenty spend about £10 on a cd or they just download the track from the internet.

From my questionnaire i realised most people aged fifteen to twenty buy their music from hmv or the internet and people aged twenty and above buy their cd from amazon, ebay and others i think the older group buy their music from most online shops because they do not have time to go out and buy their luxury because of work so they buy it online which saves them the time having to go to the shop the buy the cd

From this analyses i have decided to target my product at fifteen to twenty years old this is because i can reach a much larger audience and also because my age group know the artist which am going to use i feel is more likely that they will enjoy or like my product. this will make my content very relative to my audience.
